John Duncan

John co-founded and manages the research process at Meridian Research Group.
Since 2007, and through numerous of the most consequential market and political events of the last century, he has advised senior leaders at the world’s top investment management firms on public policy.
John works with the Meridian team to help clients understand how policy impacts their decision making across a diverse range of issue areas, including macro (fiscal, trade/sanctions), financials/housing, health care, energy, tech/media/telecom, and M&A, among others.
Prior to founding Meridian, John held numerous senior government and corporate roles. He has helped shape legislative and regulatory policy as Director of Policy for the former U.S. Secretary of Commerce, Carlos Gutierrez, and as acting Chief of Staff to the former U.S. Secretary of Labor, Elaine Chao. He also served as a senior advisor and campaign manager to Newt Gingrich, the former Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. In his time outside of Washington, John led corporate strategy and product market initiatives at Microsoft Corp and in the venture capital/early-stage technology industry.
John Duncan has a MBA from the Harvard Business School and a BA from Georgetown University.
